Harold Johnson Nature Reserve

North Coast

Situated on the KwaZulu-Natal north coast is a small reserve stretching only 100 hectares, but within which there is a wonderful combination of natural beauty and historical interest. Two National Monuments can be found in the reserve including Fort Pearson and the Ultimatum Tree, where the British issued an ultimatum to the Zulus thereby starting the Anglo Zulu War. The reserve is also home to a great variety of wildlife including impala, zebra, duiker, bushbuck and a variety of mongoose.
